“Neurothing nennt sich diese polnische Newcomerband, die sich mit der „Vanishing Celestial Bodies“-EP auf Labelsuche machen.
Und wenn nicht irgendwas komplett falsch läuft, sollten die Jungs bald nen Deal in der Tasche haben. Auf „Vanishing Celestial Bodies“ mischen sie Thrash- und Deathmetal mit richtig fetten Hardcoregrooves und Stakkatoriffing a la Pantera.

Die Jungs bauen eine kalte, fast schon futuristische Atmosphäre auf, die stark an Fear Factory oder die Newcomer des Jahres, Threat Signal erinnert. Die vier Songs auf dieser EP sind klasse gespielte Thrashnummern, die nur auf die Dauer etwas monoton klingen. Aber weder „Never Core“, der vom Titel her wohl klarstellen soll, dass sich Neurothing nur als Metalband sehen, oder „Macheta“ zu dem auch ein Video abgedreht wurde, sind Ausfälle. Das gleiche gilt für „Anomaly“ und den Titeltrack.

Watch out, denn ich bin sicher, dass das Full-Lenght Debüt und ein anständiger Deal nicht mehr lang auf sich warten lassen.”

“First you get the bad news: this demo contains only 4 songs at a runningtime of 17:13 min. But now you get the good news: all of this 17:13 min. are absolutely killing!!!

It’s unbelievable what this Poland-quintet created with this demo. This promo-CD starts with ‘Never Core’: aggressive shouts, very precise bass/ guitar-arrangements and all of them hit straight into your face. Meshuggah meets Pantera at highest level. Absolutely fitting guitarsoli, power … byebye nackmuscles … and all this although the band never tries to break highspeedrecords!

Further on with ‘Macheta’, Chupasangre ( Bartek Zawadzki ) again tries to scream his lungs off. And in the meantime always again there?s clean and soft singing … it gives me creeps. At the demo there?s also a video to this song included which was produced very professional. It’s a real hammer that even after the 15th listeningsession it doesn?t turn to get boring at all to listen to the songs of Neurothing. ‘Anomaly’ ist the next song who hits you like a fist in your face. A unique mixture of pure power, aggressiveness, melody, progressiveness and musical ability. That what Hazub ( Ryszard Hazubski ) -guitar- , Sloma ( Jaroslaw Slomka ) -guitar- , Maciuperski ( Maciej Prybylski ) -bass- and Buli ( Robert Roszczynski ) -drums- push out of the speakers is absolutely unusual for a band which which exists only for one and a half years yet. Well, if this band would hail from USA, England or Finland, then this material wouldn?t be a demo, but a CD of a not-so-small label.

Sadly already the last song ‘Vanishing Celestial Bodies’ follows, which of course isn?t suitable to be a lullaby. So, you fans of heavy music out there, get your hands off this CD if you only want to join a CD just for one hour. This CD is just like some kind of parasite which erodes from your auditory canals into your brain and will leave his mark there and finally will settle down in your heart.

And those who have read my other reviews yet will know that I usually don’t spend an absolutely highscore, but here I have no other choice.

The only thing which I could chalk up to Neurothing is that this demo has a runningtime of sadly only nearly 18 minutes and that it problaby will take a rather long time till I will be able to see the band performing their material live on stage.

“Polonia tiene una de las escenas de metal más amplias y prolíficas de Europa sin duda alguna y por si fuera poco es además una escena diversificada en estilos y llena de calidad (estos polacos le pegan a todo y aun encima bien). Otra muestra de ello la tenemos con Neurothing, un grupo perteneciente a uno de los estilos actualmente más en alza, como son todo tipo de fusiones del metal extremo con el hardcore, por supuesto el resultado como no podía ser de otra forma viniendo de donde viene, es satisfactorio y profesional, tanto en lo musical como en lo referente al diseno.

Sin duda el primer grupo que te viene a la mente al escuchar estos cuatro temas de los que se compone este mcd, son los maestros suecos Meshuggah, por lo que os podéis hacer ya una idea de lo que encierra este Vanishing Celestial Bodies. Ritmos machacones, cortantes y tremendamente pesados llenos de retorcidos cambios de ritmo acompanados de la agresiva voz de Chupasangres. El resultado final es bueno pero les falta personalidad y está demasiado influenciada y basada en la música de los suecos antes mencionados lo cual es un problema, eso sí, teniendo en cuenta que es su primer mcd tampoco se puede pedir que inventen un nuevo género y además el resultado de su debut es más que aceptable.

Vanishing Celestial Bodies es un buen comienzo y del todo profesional,denota sin lugar a dudas que detrás hay mucho trabajo y ganas de hacer las cosas bien. En un futuro, Neurothing, puede que llegue a formar parte del abanico de bandas interesantes pertenecientes al universo de los nuevos sonidos extremos, como son Cataract, Mnemic, Textures… y por supuesto Meshuggah ,para conseguirlo mi recomendación es que le sigan dedicando mucho trabajo y que busquen anadir a su música toques propios. Así que ya sabes si eres de los que disfruta con bandas como las anteriormente nombradas hazte con esto y te llevarás de regalo (por el mismo precio jajaja) un video del tema Macheta que no está nada mal.”

“Powerful stuff! Im positively surprised with the bands level. And with the edition of the CD, I must add. Just four tracks (17 minutes) and yet the demo comes in an elegant, professional digipack. These guys must be really determined, especially that they are clearly targeting the Western market. I wish them any sort of success, which they definitely deserve. The greatest astonishment, however, is the music itself.

First, the guys skills. Outstanding? Im not sure if I should praise them as much as that in order not to make their heads swell but quite a few old troupers could learn a lot from Neurothing. In terms of music, the band is not even trying to hide that they have been listening to lots of stuff from groups such as Meshuggah, and want to mark their presence in the area of broken, arrhythmic metal. Although nowadays every second metalcore band openly admits to having been inspired by the work of Thordendal and colleagues, it has been a long time since I heard anyone building on the Swedes ideas so literally.

Neurothings well-produced tracks are larded with accents, shifts of meter, and all sorts of breaking, with aggressive, a bit hardcore vocals roving about. To continue about the vocals, there are occasional melodic recitations, which enhance the sense of paranoia emanating from these compositions. The coolest thing about this music, however, is the fact that despite all those rhythmic and arrangement-related traps it will make you go into a trance and shake your head to hits such as Macheta.

A great beginning! Lets hope the guys will have enough faith and determination to make further steps as good ones as the production of this EP.”
